Algorand Universities Recognised in Coin Desk List
The popular cryptocurrency news platform Coin Desk has published its annual best universities for blockchain list with 10 of the 50 institutions named a part of Algorand’s Centre of Excellence program. The schools in question were The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (ranked No. 1); University of California, Berkeley (ranked No. 4); Cornell University (ranked No. 5); Nanyang Technical University, Singapore (ranked No. 10); Columbia University (ranked No. 14); University of Sydney (ranked No. 21); Carnegie Mellon University (ranked No. 22); Imperial College London (ranked No. 23); Monash University (ranked No. 29); Yale University (ranked No. 34).
“The ace programme represents an unprecedented commitment to advancing blockchain education and adoption on a global scale,” said Head of the ACE Programme Dr. Hugo Krawczyk.
“Coindesk’s ranking reconfirms the programme’s support of cutting-edge multidisciplinary research across every aspect of blockchain technology and its support of the students, professors and researchers who are paving the path to the future.”
Algorand Period 5 Governance Begins
The fifth period of Algorand governance staking has officially opened with users now able to commit funds towards their vote. Given the implications of the previous period 4 governance vote, users now have more flexibility than ever in terms of methods for governance staking including the ability to now stake using LP tokens. The registration for period 5 governance closes on October 15 with rewards set to be distributed by January 1 2023.
GARD Launch V2 Protocol
The Decentralized Money & Fixed Yield protocol GARD has this week launched its new V2 upgrade. The launch has seen a number of major improvements become available to GARD users including UI enhancements, enabled partial repayment, lowered fees, and built new products. GARD Protocol's V2 is also moving to an APR model rather than using flat fees as well as introducing staking of $GARD. Wormhole Publishes Algorand Overview
The bridging protocol Wormhole has released new details on its recent integration with Algorand publishing an overview of the network for its sizeable audience. The release covers all of the key features of the Algorand blockchain as well as a snapshot of some of the ecosystem’s major protocols for DeFi. With Wormhole integration, Algorand users can now bridge between an impressive portfolio of chains including Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, Binance, Near, and many more.
Gotham FC Team up with DRL for Algorand Promo
Gotham FC and the Drone Racing League have teamed up for promotional video in collaboration with Algorand. Both sports organisations are Algorand Foundation commercial partners who have heavily integrated with the Algorand blockchain on an operational basis. The teams produced an engaging montage of a Gotham FC training session shot on some of DRLs high speed drones which can be viewed here.
TRUST Launches New Creative Work Backed by Algorand Foundation
A new Algorand Foundation supported creative project called TRUST has launched this week with users now able to get their hands on a graphic novel, motion comic, and NFT Collection. The project was created by Chief Nyamweya, Anne Connelly, and Sarah Mallia, and is set to be distributed by Freehand Studios for free through download on the TRUST Website.
"TRUST is a creative exploration of the global applications of blockchain technology and the power it holds to transform and empower communities," said Dr. Hugo Krawczyk, Algorand Foundation's principal researcher and head of the ACE Programme. "We are proud to support an initiative that aligns with Algorand Foundation's core values of using blockchain to build equitable and inclusive futures."
Algo Gov Club Publish Algorand Beginners Guide
The Algo Gov Club have published an informative new report that provides new users with a a beginners guide on how to use Algorand. The free document covers a number of important introductory elements for new Algorand users including core features, wallet options, governance, defi protocols, and more. Pera Algo Share Governance Staking Guide
Pera Wallet this week published a helpful guide for users summarizing a variety of new liquid governance options available. The article contains details on how to stake through the traditional method as well as through Folks Finance, Algofi, and GARDs liquid methods. In addition, Pera have a also built out a new governance page within their website that directs users straight to the associated governance portals. You can read the full guide here.
