Algorand Foundation Announce New Greenhouse Hack Bounty
The Algorand Foundation announced a new bounty hunt series called The Greenhouse Hack during the recent Algorand AVM Conference in Austin, Texas. The Greenhouse Hack will take place in 4 parts running over 6 weeks. Participants will be given access to 1-on-1 dev support, team matchmaking, and a welcoming community of web3 builders, makers, and leaders.
Algorand Technical Upgrades Revealed at AVM
As part of their presentation at this week’s AVM conference in Austin Texas, Algorand revealed a suite of technical upgrades coming to the protocol. The three flagship updates that are expected to be implemented in the near future will be unlimited global storage on Algorand, improved on-chain randomness, and improved speed of 6000 transactions per second.
Pact Extend Rewards Program
Pact have announced that they will be extending their Aeneas Rewards program for a second 8-week period due to the success of the initial 8-week period. Despite coinciding with a global bear market in both traditional and decentralized finance, users snapped up the 1 million ALGO worth of rewards on offer. The new 8-week period will conclude on August 2nd.
Decipher 2022 to be Held in Dubai
Algorand have confirmed the location and dates of their second annual Decipher conference with this year's event set to be held in Dubai, UAE. The event will take place over three days from November 28 to 30 in the luxurious waterfront suburb of Madinat Jumeirah. Last year’s inaugural Decipher event was held in Miami USA and saw Algorand founders and advocates from around the world come together in a showcase of everything that Algorand has to offer. Next AVM Confirmed for Singapore in September
Following the conclusion of this week’s AVM event in Austin Texas Algorand Foundation have announced that another AVM will take place in Singapore later this year. The geography of the event will allow for stronger representation from Algorand’s Australasian community. The Head Quarters of the Algorand Foundation is also based in Singapore giving the nation even stronger ties to the blockchain.
Gotham Pride NFTs Revealed
Algorand commercial partner and NWSL team Gotham FC have revealed the first NFT in their collection of #WHATWEDO on the Algorand blockchain. The piece is titled GOTHAM FC PRIDE and depicts a render of Gotham’s special edition pride jersey that is set be worn by their side in upcoming fixtures. In partnership with Support Athlete Ally, 100% of proceeds will be donated to Gotham’s five social impact partners as well as matching dollar for dollar sales for the first $10,000 raised.
NFDomains Mainnet Launches
The eagerly awaited launch of the NFDomains mainnet protocol took place this week with users acquiring their .algo domains in droves. The NFDomains platform allows users to purchase .algo domains on the blockchain which can then be used as a mechanism to brand a user’s wallet. On launch, the platform has come with several useful integrations on platforms such as MyAlgoWallet, NFT Explorer, ALGOxNFT, Asalytic, Algogator, AlgoNode, and Staketax. They have also revealed that integrations with Pera Wallet, Purestakeco, xBacked, and Defly App are also close to being made live.
Algorand Present at National U.S. Mayor’s Conference
Algorand Head of Marketing Kelli Callaghan was present at this week’s Annual Meeting of The United States Conference of Mayors in Reno, Navada. During the conference, Callaghan spoke to several mayors about blockchain-based innovations for cities including Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez who is a vocal Algorand advocate.
Silvio Paris Blockchain Week Address
Algorand Founder and global leader in cryptography Silvio Micali’s address at Paris Blockchain Week has been published. In his address to the crowd of attendees, Micali discussed the importance of decentralization in blockchain development and Algorand’s tackling of the blockchain trilemma. Micali has been a pioneer whose work has been integral in the advancement of all blockchain technologies not just Algorand.
Shamir Ozery Announced as New Algorand Foundation Head of Web3
Algorand Foundation have this week announced the appointment of a new Head of Web3. Shamir Ozery previously spent two years working as part of Algorand’s internal marketing team and is well-positioned to take on the new responsibility. In his position, Ozery will be tasked with fostering growth, support, innovation, and sustainability within the ecosystem.
Algorand Foundation Form New Strategic Partnership With Nimble
The Algorand Foundation have announced a new strategic partnership with a decentralized insurance protocol Nimble. The intent of the partnership is to to bring ecosystem-wide insurance protection to users and projects building on Algorand.
“We couldn’t be happier to move forward with an excellent partner like the Algorand Foundation,” said Nimble CEO Adam Hofmann.
“Sure, Consensus is right around the corner but we are holding our breath to spread the news about how this benefits users, projects, and developers. The Foundation has a keen awareness of the value that insurance provides to the DeFi ecosystem. Now, not only is Algorand the leader in safe, secure, stable, and sustainable blockchain, but it is doubling down on this security by giving users of Algorand another layer of protection and risk mitigation.”
