Algorand Governance Period 3 Voting Closes
The third period of Algorand Governance voting has now officially concluded with results now in for the two governance measures put forward. This period interestingly saw the first instance in which the community voted down a governance proposition with the proposal to make governance voting weighted to TVL turned down with 66% in the negative and 33% in the affirmative. The second measure related to introducing a process for XGovs to put forward measures with an overwhelming 98% of governors voting in the affirmative.
Wayru Introduce First WiFi Router
Decentralized internet provider Wayru have announced the launch of their first WiFi router called Genesis. The router allows users to share WiFi through hotspotting and earn crypto by doing so with rewards increasing depending on the number of users sharing the network. Anyone with a stable fixed Internet connection can become a Hotspot Operator. Users can set up a Genesis device in restaurants, convenience stores, gas stations, cafeterias, or your home. The more traffic you get, the more rewards you’ll earn.
The addition of this product allows Wayru to take its first steps on the mission to make the internet accessible to everyone in the world with more than 3 billion people currently entirely unconnected.
Algorand Foundation Hand Out Community Awards
The Algorand Foundation recently completed a series of community awards on Twitter recognising some of the ecosystem’s best contributors as voted by the community. Award categories included best Algorand Social Media follow, most exciting Algo dApp, NFT Artist, Algo dApp pushing technology, Algo Content Creator, best Algo Gaming dApp, and best Music dApp. The Algorand Foundation have promised prizes for the various winners all of whom can be seen on their Twitter page.
Banxa Joins Algorand Ecosystem
Algorand has this week been listed on popular Web3 on-and-off ramp solution Banxa. The integration represents Algorand becoming increasingly accessible to users across a variety of users on cross-chain platforms.
Humble AMM Relaunches
The Algorand-based AMM product HumbleSwap has relaunched on mainnet this week. The platform initially launched in March but had to be taken down when a vulnerability was identified by the Humble team. Since then the protocol has been offline with the vulnerability purged. With the platform now back online users will be able to swap, pool, and earn liquidity on Humble.
Algorand Community Participates in Consensus Festivities
Algorand made its presence felt at the recent Consensus 2022 conference in Austin Texas with a number of the ecosystem’s highest-profile individuals and projects. The week began with an Algorand focused AVM conference with keynote speeches from major projects and Foundation CEO Staci Warden. During Decipher itself an Algorand panel was held with Warden also appearing in several television interviews.
Goracle Announces Strategic Partnership with HEADLINE
Algorand-based Oracle network Goracle (which has recently re-branded from Algoracle) has announced a new strategic partnership with well-known development firm HEADLINE.
“An on-chain data feed provided by Goracle could quickly spark a massive wave of innovation on Algorand,” said HEADLINE Chief Marketing Officer Brian Scherlen.
“We believe that Algorand’s tech will continue to shine as new applications and tools like Goracle continue to improve the growing landscape of the layer-1 chain.”
DRL Game Built on Algorand Goes into Development
The Drone Racing League has confirmed that it is developing a play-to-own dApp game on Algorand with the development house PlayGroundLabs. DRL has a $100 million sponsorship deal with Algorand with the two companies discussing the development of such utility since the inception of their relationship. This is an exciting development for the Algorand ecosystem as it could be the first of many ventures into the sports gaming industry. With strategic partnerships also in place with FIFA, Formula-E team Envision Racing, and more Algorand is well poised to be central to the development of the various game titles.
