NFT Explorer to Shut Down
The popular Algorand based NFT tracking platform, NFT Explorer, has announced that it will be shutting down in the coming months. In a statement released on the project’s website, the founders revealed that a 2 person team has been running the platform around other full-time work commitments. The scope of the project has grown so much that the founders can longer reasonably keep pace with its demands in tandem with their other commitments. The project will formally wrap up on January 31 2023 with no news on a potential takeover of the service.
Napster Hire New CEO
The former music streaming giant and new web3-based music platform Napster has hired Jon Vlassopulos as its new CEO. The former Roblox Head of Music oversaw the adoption of new music-based initiatives on the community-oriented gaming platform, including its first-ever concert with popular rapper Lil Nas X attracting an audience of over 33 million people. Vlassopulos also has a history with Napster during its most successful run at the turn of the century. While working for German media giant Bertelsmann in 1999, he was part of the team that invested in the file-sharing network, with the goal of striking a peace deal with the record labels. Blassopulos did not waste any time in introducing himself to the Algorand community with an address during the recent Singapore Greenhouse Talks as well as confirming a slot as a keynote speaker during the Decipher 2022 Conference in November.
