Former Amazon Software Development Manager Jack Chan Hired by Algorand Foundation
The Algorand Foundation have this week confirmed the hire of former Amazon Software Development Manager Jack Chan. Announcing the move on Twitter, Chan confirmed he will be reporting to CTO John Woods and working on expanding Algorand's outreach and expediting tech integrations. Chan was congratulated on his appointment by Foundation CEO Staci Warden as well as Cardano Founder Charles Hoskinson.
GARD Partners with Folks Finance
The Algorand DeFi protocols GARD and Folks Finance have this week announced a new strategic partnership. One of the primary outcomes of the partnership will see gALGO now supported on the GARD platform.
“Our partnership with Folks Finance and support of their gALGO on the GARD Protocol lends itself to our joint efforts as leading DeFi protocols of increasing composability. We are all in this together and are excited by its potential for Algorand DeFi,” said GARD Protocol CEO Rylie Rueda.
“By coming together we will be able to create more utility for GARD while simultaneously allowing users more options in how they leverage their Algorand Governance positions. This enhances our users’ experiences across both the GARD Protocol and Folks Finance.”
Opulous Integrated on DeFi Lama
Renowned DeFi tracking platform DeFi Lama has this week announced the integration of Opulous. This means that the project’s TVL will be tracked for DeFi Lama’s sizeable user base, providing valuable insight and exposure. Opulous has been one of Algorand’s most successful DeFi projects to date offering users the chance to buy music royalties in the form of NFTs.
Algorand Host Oxford University Careers Presentation
Algorand continued its efforts to grow university-level blockchain education this week with a presentation at the World Famous Oxford University in England. Hosting a Careers and Entrepreneurship panel, Algorand representatives spoke to a room full of Oxford students about taking their first career steps into the world of blockchain.
Borderless Capital Deploy Yet more Liquidity into Algorand DeFi
Borderless Capital have announced yet more liquidity has been deployed into Algorand DeFi protocols announcing another 60M in funding to Algofi and Folks Finance. This brings the recent funding deployment activity of Borderless up to 180M.
Pera Wallet Sponsors Italian Blockchain Forum
The Algorand Wallet Pera have been announced as an official sponsor of the upcoming Italian Blockchain Forum in Milan. The event is set to take place from November 18-19 and will feature speeches from several high-profile Algorand figures including Optio Capital CPO Michael Cotton, Folks Finance CEO Benedetto Biondi, Algorand Foundation Chief Economist Massimo Morini, and Pera Wallet CEO Taylan Prince. Attendees for the event will need to purchase an NFT ticket. The event also has a virtual attendance option.
Folks Finance Announcement LP Token Deployment Options Through AMMs
Folks Finance have announced that users can now deposit LP from Pact and Tinyman on the platform’s lending markets after committing the LP to Algorand Governance. This move will greatly increase flexibility for users when committing to Algorand governance. As part of the announcement Folks Finance also released tutorials for how to perform the action across both AMMs which can be seen here – Pact, Tinyman.
Algorand Foundation Executives Share Web 3 Insights
The Algorand Foundation has this week shared a series of insightful videos from some of its most senior executives. Head of Web3 Shamir Ozery, CTO John Woods, and Head of Growth Marketing Micah Adams all spoke about different core pillars of Algorand’s strategic plan. The videos were filmed at Algorand’s recent Singapore Green House Hack Shack event and can be watched on Twitter.
