Algorand Foundation Partners Prestigious Peking University
The Algorand Foundation has announced a new partnership with the prestigious Chinese Peking University to conduct research.
“The goal of the research is not only to build market theories for digital assets on the Algorand network, but we also want to investigate the auction and pricing models for NFTs in the form of Algorand Standard Assets and assess the governance algorithms of DeFi and digital assets on the Algorand network,” said Professor Xiaotie Deng, principal investigator on the project.
“We are thrilled to be supporting Xiaotie Deng’s inspiring research,” said Hugo Krawczyk, Principal Researcher and Head of the Algorand Centres of Excellence (ACE) program.
“The outcomes of his investigations will not only advance the Algorand protocol but also contribute greatly to the progress of the blockchain and digital asset space.”
Blockbeam Education Program Announced
Blockchain education organization Blockbeam has announced a new 4-week program that will see 40 participants upskilled on sustainability and climate resiliency applications built on Algorand. The program goal is to develop differentiated revenue-side blockchain candidates and accelerate adoption for Algorand Sustainability startups. All participants will graduate with a BlockBeam Algorand NFT and have the opportunity to win crypto prizes. Modules will be running from April 19th-May 11th.
Algorand Surpasses 20,000,000 Blocks
Algorand Foundation CEO Staci Warden this week confirmed that the Algorand protocol has surpassed validating its 20,000,000th block. This is a hugely significant milestone particularly given that Algorand has never experienced any downtime since initially launching in June 2019. With recent announcements that Algorand will soon be able to reduce block finalization time to around 2.5 seconds, the protocol is looking stronger than ever.
Anthony Scaramucci Hosts Star-Studded Podcast to Discuss Algorand and the Future of Finance
Cryptocurrency Venture Capitalist Anthony Scaramucci has hosted a podcast as part of his recurring MoochFM series focusing on the future of finance and Algorand’s place in it. With the aid of guests Laura Shin, Christopher Leonard, and Sean Ford the podcast provides great insight into the rise of digital currencies as well as Algorand’s place in the ecosystem. The Algorand community will be particularly interested to listen to the Sean Ford segment of the podcast from 47:00.
Humble Swap Launches on Mainnet
The Humble Swap Exchange mainnet platform has launched bringing yet another exchange into the Algorand ecosystem. With options now including Algofi, Pact, and Tinyman the Algorand DeFi economy is continuing to strengthen.
DopePanda Receives Algorand Foundation Grant
DopePanda has been announced as the latest recipient of an Algorand Foundation grant this week. The DopePanda platform is designed to be a hub for a range of content creation activities including NFTs, crowdfunding, DeFi, and more.
“We’re excited to welcome DopePanda to the Algorand Ecosystem,” said Addie Wagenknecht of Algorand Foundation.
“We look forward to supporting DopePanda in their goal to bring hundreds and thousands of content creators to the decentralized Algorand ecosystem, further growing our communities.”
Third Algorand Governance Period Opens
The sign up period for the 3rd period of Algorand Community Governance is now open. Participants can now commit their chosen stake of Algos to take part in an upcoming vote that will be revealed soon. Users can follow a step-by-step guide here to sign up.
Pera Completes App Upgrade Allows Users to Buy Algo in App
Pera Wallet have unveiled a suite of app upgrades including new compatibility allowing users to buy Algo directly within the app using fiat currency. The new feature named MoonPay fully supports Apple Pay and Google Pay and means users will no longer be required to use centralized exchanges to acquire Algo. Other noteworthy updates can be found within the Pera Wallet platform log.
Algomint Launch $goMINT Token
Algomint have successfully completed a token launch and sale of their platform governance token $goMINT. The historic launch saw a simultaneous listing on Algofi, Pact, and Tinyman where price was maintained between $0.10-0.15 for the first 12 hours after the initial listing to ensure users were given ample opportunity to acquire the token. Users will initially be able to use the token to participate in governance with an exciting new utility set to be added in the coming months.
Pact Hint at Participation in Aeneas Liquidity Program
Pact have teased their imminent involvement in the Algorand Foundation driven Aeneas Liquidity Program. An announcement is expected in the coming days so users should keep a close eye on the Pact social channels.
